Lobbying on behalf of a major NSW mine
CASE STUDY
Brief
South Korean coal company Wallarah 2 is seeking approval from the NSW Government to secure a mining license to develop a $1 billion mine in NSW.

Strategy
Reputation Edge provided strategic media and communications advice and government lobbying support to Wallarah 2 to highlight the hundreds of jobs the project will create on the Central Coast, which suffers from high unemployment.
Results
Despite sustained opposition from a local action group and environmental activists, the Wallarah 2 project received formal approval in January 2018 from the  NSW Planning Assessment Commission. This ended a 22-year battle by the proponents to develop the mine.
